Australian Disney Actor Removes Snake from Plane

Andre Rerekura calms passengers by safely handling a surprise reptile encounter
On November 21, Disney actor Andre Rerekura became an impromptu hero during a Virgin Airlines flight from Broome to Perth, Australia, when he safely removed a Stimson's python from the aircraft.

The discovery of the small, non-venomous snake sparked initial panic among passengers, though Rerekura, known for his roles in Disney productions, calmly managed the situation.

A passenger had alerted the flight crew to the presence of the snake before takeoff, leading to discussions on possibly disembarking.

However, Rerekura identified the harmless python, calmly carried it off the plane, and allowed the journey to continue after just a 20-minute delay.

As a gesture of gratitude, Rerekura received a complimentary drink from the airline, and fellow passengers showed their appreciation for the actor's quick thinking and bravery.

The flight later landed safely in Perth.

Stimson's pythons are common in northern Australia, particularly during warmer months.

Broome International Airport officials were uncertain how the snake boarded the flight and referred inquiries to the airline.
