Biden Warns Iran: Attack on Israel 'Will Not Succeed'
US President Joe Biden has expressed his expectation that Iran will launch an attack on Israel in the near future in response to a recent Israeli strike on an Iranian diplomatic building in Syria.
Speaking to reporters after an event, Biden cautioned Iran against such an action, stating, "Don't." He added that the US is committed to defending Israel and that any attempt by Iran to attack will not be successful.
The tensions between Israel and Iran have escalated following an Israeli strike on April 1 that destroyed an Iranian building in Damascus, resulting in the deaths of seven members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, including two generals.
Iran has vowed retaliation for the attack.
Biden, however, urged caution and warned against any aggressive actions.
He did not disclose any specific intelligence information but indicated that he believed an attack was imminent.
He reaffirmed the US's commitment to Israel's defense and expressed confidence that Iran would not be able to carry out a successful attack.
The Israeli strike on the Iranian building in Syria was in response to Iranian-backed militias launching rockets towards Israeli positions in the Golan Heights earlier in March.
The Israeli military retaliated with a series of airstrikes on targets in Syria, including the Iranian diplomatic building in Damascus.
The escalating tensions between Israel and Iran have raised concerns about the potential for a wider conflict in the region.
The US has urged both sides to de-escalate the situation and avoid further provocations.
