Boeing has announced former aerospace veteran Robert 'Kelly' Ortberg as its new CEO.

Ortberg, who previously led Rockwell Collins and played a pivotal role in its integration into United Technologies (now part of RTX), will assume his new role on August 8.

His appointment comes as Boeing grapples with ongoing safety and quality control issues, which contributed to a $1.4 billion loss in Q2 2023.

Revenue fell 14.6 percent to $16.9 billion. Ortberg's leadership is expected to address key operational challenges, including enhanced safety measures and negotiations with labor unions.

He succeeds Dave Calhoun, who steps down amid heightened scrutiny following a 737 MAX incident and prior crashes.
