British Woman Found Dead in France Amid Investigation of Alleged Affair

Karen Carter, 65, discovered with multiple stab wounds; husband feels 'betrayed' after police reveal her relationship.
Karen Carter, a 65-year-old British woman, was found dead outside her home in Trémolat, a village located east of Bordeaux, France, following an alleged frenzied attack that left her with multiple stab wounds.

Emergency services responded on a Tuesday and attempted to save her life, but she suffered cardiac arrest and later died from her injuries.

An autopsy confirmed that Ms. Carter had sustained eight significant wounds, with injuries to her chest, forearm, and abdomen, ultimately leading to death by hemorrhage resulting from a wound to her aorta.

The forensic examination indicated defensive wounds, suggesting that Ms. Carter had attempted to protect herself during the incident.

In connection with the investigation, French police arrested a 69-year-old woman.

While the investigation is ongoing, reports indicate that authorities discovered Ms. Carter was allegedly having an affair with Jean-François Guerrier, a 74-year-old retired businessman.

Alan Carter, Karen's husband, expressed feelings of betrayal upon learning about the alleged relationship and had previously suspected infidelity.

He had inquired about Mr. Guerrier, but Ms. Carter had assured him and friends that there was 'nothing in it.'

Ms. Carter had relocated to France approximately a decade ago, where she established a holiday business.

It is reported that she met Mr. Guerrier while volunteering at a local eatery.

Following the incident, Mr. Guerrier was found by police at the scene and had reportedly been with Ms. Carter earlier that evening at a wine-tasting event.

Authorities conducted an interview with him but subsequently released him, stating there was no grounds for suspicion against him at this time.

A prosecutor overseeing the case remarked that the investigation is concentrating on individuals who may have had a motive against the victim or the couple's relationship.

This incident has sparked a significant reaction within the community and has drawn media attention given the circumstances surrounding Ms. Carter's death and the revelations regarding her personal life.
