CCDH to Exit Elon Musk's X Over New Terms of Service
Concerns arise about legal battles and hate speech proliferation
The Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) announced it will cease activity on Elon Musk's social media platform, X, due to changes in the platform's terms of service.
The revised terms, effective this Friday, mandate all legal disputes to be handled in the US District Court for the Northern District of Texas or state courts in Tarrant County, Texas.
CCDH believes these adjustments strategically favor Musk, allowing him to leverage more sympathetic legal venues against dissenters.
CCDH has criticized Musk for not adequately curbing hate speech on X, formerly Twitter.
Additionally, The Guardian also ceased posting on X this week, citing pervasive 'disturbing content.' Earlier, a US judge dismissed Musk's lawsuit against CCDH over allegedly misleading reports.
X is involved in other legal battles, including a defamation suit against Media Matters and a lawsuit against the Global Alliance for Responsible Media over claims of unlawful conspiracy and revenue loss.
Musk and X have not commented on these developments.
