In a bid to ease tensions between Tehran and Washington, Elon Musk, the billionaire and tech tycoon, reportedly met with Amir Saeid Iravani, Iran's ambassador to the United Nations.

The meeting, described by anonymous Iranian sources as 'positive,' allegedly took place on Monday at a secret location in New York, as reported by The New York Times.

Neither the Trump transition team nor Iran's UN mission confirmed the meeting.

If true, this could indicate President-elect Donald Trump's openness to diplomacy with Iran, diverging from the hardline approach favored by many conservatives and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Trump previously abandoned the Iran nuclear deal and pursued a 'maximum pressure' policy against Iran.

Musk, closely associated with Trump's upcoming administration, was also involved in the new Department of Government Efficiency, alongside Vivek Ramaswamy, to streamline federal operations.

The initiative has raised concerns due to Musk's business ties with the government.

Despite Trump's backing of Netanyahu and the military actions on Iran, he has portrayed himself as a dealmaker interested in diplomatic solutions.

During the meeting, Musk was purportedly urged by Ambassador Iravani to seek exemptions from US sanctions and explore business opportunities in Tehran.

Concurrently, Masoud Pezeshkian, Iran's President, assured the UN nuclear watchdog of the peaceful intent of Iran's nuclear endeavors.
