Ex-Trump adviser says former president ‘hasn’t got the brains’ for dictatorship

John Bolton, a former national security adviser for Donald Trump, has dismissed the idea that Trump could effectively lead a dictatorship due to a lack of intellectual capacity and a coherent political philosophy.
In an interview with Le Figaro, Bolton criticized Trump's admiration for dictatorial leaders, highlighting Trump's professional background in real estate rather than political strategy.

Despite his disparaging comments, concerns persist about Trump's threat to democracy, especially considering his praise for authoritarian leaders and his potential actions if re-elected.

Bolton, who has become a critic of Trump since serving in his administration, suggests Trump's approach to governance is transactional and self-serving, lacking in-depth policy analysis.

This critique comes amidst Trump facing numerous legal challenges and as he campaigns for a second term, with Biden warning of the dangers to American democracy.

Bolton also raised concerns about Trump's previous threats to withdraw the US from NATO, suggesting it could become a reality if Trump is re-elected.
