Higher exit fees for travelers starting December 2024
The Maldives, a popular destination known for its stunning beaches and luxury accommodations, will increase its departure fees for international travelers starting December 1, 2024.
Economy-class passengers will see fees rise from $30 to $50, while business-class passengers will pay $120, up from $60.
First-class travelers will face a fee of $240, and private jet passengers will be charged $480, a significant increase from the previous $120.
These revised fees apply to all foreign nationals and are not influenced by flight duration.
The Maldivian Inland Revenue Authority announced that the extra revenue will support Velana International Airport's maintenance.
While these costs are typically included in ticket prices, some airlines are advising customers to purchase tickets before November 30 to avoid the increased fees.
Known for its year-round warm climate and serene settings, the Maldives remains a beloved retreat for privacy-seeking tourists and celebrities.
