Most Wanted US Fugitive Arrested in Vatican with Three Concealed Knives
Moises Tejada, a 54-year-old US fugitive wanted in New York, was arrested in the Vatican during Pope Francis' weekly audience with three concealed knives, each eight inches long.
The reason for his intended use of the weapons remains unclear.
A US citizen named Tejada, who has a history of kidnapping and robbery convictions and is classified as violent, was arrested in Italy.
Tejada claimed he had recently come from the frontline in Ukraine's war with Russia.
Italian authorities consider him armed and dangerous and he is currently in prison, accused of illegally carrying weapons and resisting policemen.
It is unclear if he had any intentions of harming the Pope or anyone else.
US authorities have been contacted about the possibility of extradition.
