Poll Shows Kamala Harris Narrowly Leading Donald Trump by One Point
Harris Holds Slim Lead in Tight U.S. Presidential Race Days Before Election
Kamala Harris leads Donald Trump by a single percentage point, 44% to 43%, in the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted ahead of the November 5 U.S. presidential election.
The poll, conducted over three days and completed on Sunday, reflects a tightly contested race with a margin of error of about three points.
Harris, the current Vice President, has seen her lead diminish since mid-October, when she had a two-point advantage over the former President.
The survey included 1,150 U.S. adults, among which 975 were registered voters.
Trump leads on economic issues, favored by 47% of voters compared to Harris's 37%, and holds significant sway on immigration policies, with 48% supporting his stance over Harris's 33%.
Harris, however, maintains a narrow edge over Trump on addressing political extremism and democracy threats, at 40% to 38%.
As the candidates vie for critical support in battleground states, both emphasize mobilizing their bases, with consistent voter turnout crucial to the election's outcome.
Historically, national polls, while indicative, do not determine the Electoral College winner, a lesson from Trump's 2016 victory despite losing the popular vote.
