The Quad foreign ministers, including External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and Foreign Ministers Penny Wong of Australia and Yoko Kamikawa of Japan, have warned against the use of emerging technologies by terrorists.

In a joint statement issued after their meeting in Tokyo, they called for international action against Pakistan-based groups like Lashkar-e-Tayyiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), Al-Qa'ida, and the Islamic State.

Highlighting the dangers posed by unmanned aerial vehicles, drones, and information technologies, they reiterated the need for global concerted action.

Referring to 26/11 Mumbai and 2016 Pathankot attacks, they urged for swift justice for the perpetrators.

The ministers noted the first Quad Working Group on Counter-Terrorism meeting in New Delhi and a tabletop exercise in Honolulu, with the next session to be hosted by Japan.

The joint statement also addressed regional issues including the Ukraine conflict and threats posed by China, committing to a free and open Indo-Pacific in line with international law and the UN Charter principles.
