Russian Hackers Preparing New Cyber Assault Against Ukraine

Russian hackers appear to be preparing a renewed wave of cyber attacks against Ukraine, report said.
Russian hackers are reportedly preparing for a new wave of cyber attacks on Ukraine, as revealed in a report by Microsoft.

The report cites the deployment of new troops to the region by Russia, and the adoption of a new tactical approach which mirrors previous campaigns that combine physical attacks with cyber techniques.

One group, Sandworm, is believed to be testing additional ransomware capabilities that could be used against organizations outside Ukraine.

The report states that Microsoft discovered nine different wipers and two types of ransomware variants used against more than 100 Ukrainian organizations since January 2022.

Additionally, more stealthy Russian cyber operations aimed at countries allied to Ukraine have been on the rise.
