The outage tracking site Downdetector.com reported the issue, showing that there were more than 8,200 reports of outages in the US at the peak of the incident, which occurred at 10:31 am ET (15:01 GMT). By 11:01 am ET, the number had dropped to less than 164.

The cause of the outage remains unknown, and X has not yet responded to inquiries from Reuters made outside of regular business hours.
