Tesla Recalls 3,878 Cybertrucks Due to Acceleration Defect, Increasing Crash Risk
Tesla has announced a recall of 3,878 Cybertruck vehicles due to a defect that can cause the accelerator pedal to become trapped, increasing the risk of unintended acceleration and potential crashes.
Tesla notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of this issue on April 17.
If the accelerator pedal becomes trapped, its performance and operation will be affected, potentially leading to a collision.
Tesla acknowledged an issue with the Cybertruck's accelerator, stating they were not aware of any collisions or injuries related to it.
The company plans to replace or modify the accelerators to address the problem.
Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO, had previously touted the Cybertruck as the future, but manufacturing challenges due to its large unbent stainless steel plates have delayed production.
Tesla aims to reach an annual output of 250,000 units by 2025.
This week, Tesla announced it would lay off over 10% of its global workforce due to increasing competition and slowing demand in certain markets.
