Thuringia Governor Bodo Ramelow proposes a new security order in Europe that includes Russia. He called for a non-aggression pact among all European nations. Despite his suggestion, Ramelow criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin and warned of potential conflicts.
The governor of Thuringia, Bodo Ramelow, has suggested creating a new security order in Europe that includes Russia.
In an interview with Funke Media Group, the left-wing politician called for all European countries to join this alliance and conclude a non-aggression pact.
Ramelow emphasized that his proposal should not be seen as a challenge to NATO but as a way to rethink European defense.
Despite this olive branch to Moscow, he criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin as a dictator and the Russian government as a repression apparatus.
Ramelow also warned of potential conflicts that Putin could ignite in Moldova and Georgia.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov dismissed such warnings as baseless, while Putin called them propaganda.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has reiterated Russia's openness to dialogue based on equality and respect.
