As the counting for the 2023 US elections begins, major networks have projected Donald Trump as the winner in the traditionally Republican states of Indiana, Kentucky, and West Virginia, while Kamala Harris is projected to win the Democratic stronghold of Vermont.
Trump leads in Indiana with 61.9% over Harris's 36.4%, securing its 11 electoral votes.
In Kentucky, Trump has garnered 69.7% against Harris's 28.7% for its eight electoral votes.
West Virginia's four electoral votes also favor Trump.
To win, a candidate needs 270 electoral votes.
Meanwhile, Harris is projected to win Vermont's three electoral votes, with 59.4% of the counted votes, compared to Trump's 37.9%.
Trump is leading in key states like Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, and Ohio, while Harris has an edge in Virginia, North Carolina, and New Hampshire.
The crucial swing states—Pennsylvania, Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, and Wisconsin—are anticipated to decide the presidential race.
Throughout the campaign, significant voter issues included democracy, economy, and abortion rights, with polls indicating widespread dissatisfaction with the current state of the nation.
The contest remains tight as both candidates vie to become the 47th President of the United States.
