UK Police Make Record Cocaine Seizure Worth $568 Million
UK authorities recovered a staggering 5.7 tons of cocaine, valued at approximately $568 million, from a banana shipment originating from South America.
The National Crime Agency announced the bust at Southampton port on February 8, marking the country's largest drug seizure to date.
Believed to be en route to Germany, this interception delivers a significant financial blow to international crime syndicates.
The previous UK record was a 3.7-ton cocaine confiscation in 2022. Illicit cocaine trade nets criminal groups about $4 billion annually in the UK.
