US Expresses Concern Over Israel's Deadly Gaza Strike
State Department seeks answers after children killed in recent attack
The United States raised concerns on Tuesday regarding a deadly Israeli airstrike in Beit Lahia, Gaza, which resulted in significant civilian casualties, including reports of two dozen children killed.
State Department spokesman Matthew Miller described the incident as 'horrifying' and confirmed that the US has contacted the Israeli government seeking an explanation.
While no immediate actions were announced against Israel, a key US ally, Miller emphasized the need for a negotiated resolution to the ongoing Gaza conflict that escalated after the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel.
Highlighting the 'tragic cost to civilians,' Miller reiterated the necessity of ending the war, noting Israel's significant military achievements against Hamas during the campaign in Gaza.
