Yet another sex abuse scandal hits the Church of England
Although sex scandals in the Church of England as well as in the Catholic Church are routine and not news, we would like to share you with you the latest one. 383 new cases of abuse have been exposed by a Church of England report. Out of these cases, 168 include children and 149 include adults.
Prior to this report, the Church claimed to have only found 13 cases. Lucky for some.
However, these numbers may still be an underestimate, as victims said that they asked to participate in the review, but have been ignored.
The alleged perpetrators include 242 clergy, 53 church officers and 41 volunteers, whose role involved close engagement with children.
One thing the report does not include, is any major overhaul of existing processes meant to protect children and vulnerable adults from abuse, but have clearly failed to do so.
