Commanders to Miss Terry McLaurin for Sunday Night After Quad Setback
Top receiver ruled out ahead of Seattle Seahawks game, deepening Washington’s injury-laden season
The Washington Commanders will be without wide receiver Terry McLaurin for Sunday night’s game against the Seattle Seahawks after he re-aggravated a quad injury suffered during Monday night’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Head coach Dan Quinn confirmed the veteran pass-catcher is ruled out.
McLaurin, 30, previously missed four games with the same issue and had just returned to action before the injury resurfaced.
Through four games this season he has recorded 13 catches for 203 yards and one touchdown—figures far under his usual output.
A notable contributor in prior years, McLaurin had posted 1,000+ receiving yards in each of the last five seasons.
His absence further compounds the Commanders’ offensive struggles, which have been marked by multiple injuries across the roster.
Quarterback Jayden Daniels, who himself has been sidelined due to a hamstring issue, is expected to return this week, but losing McLaurin leaves Washington’s receiving corps thin.
Deebo Samuel and younger targets such as Luke McCaffrey and Jaylin Lane are expected to see increased roles.
Quinn emphasised the team’s resilience in the face of ongoing setbacks: “We’re comfortable with where we’re at,” he said, stating the club has no plans to add another wide receiver this week.
The Commanders, now 3-5, will lean heavily on their running game and defensive effort as they pursue consistency down the stretch.
Facing a Seahawks side with one of the league’s stingiest defences—with corners Devon Witherspoon and Riq Woolen anchoring the secondary—Washington will have to adjust rapidly.
McLaurin’s status remains day-to-day heading into the bye week, but the team will proceed without its longtime top target for now.
