US Professor Handcuffed During Pro-Palestine Protest: Over 200 Arrested at Universities
A US professor, identified as Caroline Fohlin, was knocked down and handcuffed by police during a pro-Palestine protest at Emory University in Atlanta.
In a video recorded by CNN, Professor Fohlin is seen trying to intervene as police wrestled a student protester to the ground.
When she asked the officers to back off, she was knocked down and handcuffed with zip ties.
The protests, which began at Columbia University and have since spread to other top universities, have intensified across the country.
Over 200 people were arrested during protests against the war in Gaza at universities in Los Angeles, Boston, and Austin, where around 2,000 people gathered.
Police used chemical irritants and tasers to disperse the crowds.
Protesters are expressing solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza, where the death toll has reached over 34,000.
The conflict began on October 7 when Israel launched a war in response to Hamas attacks that left around 1,170 people dead and took roughly 250 hostage.
Israel estimates 129 hostages remain in Gaza, including 34 presumed dead.
