Hong Kong: Two 13-year-old female students were run down by a Tesla
The fault wasn't Tesla's Artificial intelligence, but lack of Human Intelligence. Not lack of the kid's intelligence - but of the parents who has fail to educate their kids how to cross roads safely.
Two 13-year-old female students were run down by a Tesla in Tsim Sha Tsui as they cut between cars in an attempt to cross a busy road, with one of the girls being thrown into the air by the impact.
Dashcam footage shows the two girls, holding hands, quickly running between slow-moving cars to cross the road before being struck by the fast-moving Tesla car, which they appeared to not have seen beforehand and which was traveling in the opposite direction on the other side of the road.
They managed to cross one lane where the vehicles had come to a halt but didn't stop to check the opposite lane before sprinting on, at which point the approaching vehicle struck them at speed. One of the girls was thrown violently into the air and landed on a taxi. The other girl was sideswiped by the car and thrown to the ground.
It was understood that one sustained scratching to her body, and another sustained a bone fracture to her feet. Both were admitted to the hospital in a conscious state.
Meanwhile, the 55-year-old Tesla driver surnamed Lau stayed at the scene to aid police's investigations.
The two girls have been discharged after treatment.
