Israeli Navy Intercepts Gaza Aid Boat Carrying Greta Thunberg
Activists detained while attempting to breach naval blockade
Israeli naval forces intercepted the British-flagged yacht Madleen on June 9, 2025, as it attempted to breach the naval blockade of Gaza.
The vessel, operated by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, carried 12 people, including Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg and French MEP Rima Hassan.
The boat was transporting symbolic humanitarian aid such as rice and baby formula.
Israeli authorities confirmed the crew was safe and stated that the aid would be delivered to Gaza via official channels.
The Israeli Defense Minister labeled the mission as propaganda supporting Hamas, while Hamas condemned the seizure as 'state terrorism'.
