Poland Tightens Immigration Policy with New Plan to Suspend Asylum Law

Poland's government announces plans to temporarily suspend the right to asylum as part of a new immigration strategy, citing exploitation by Belarus, Russia, and Middle Eastern countries
The Polish government has unveiled a new plan to tighten its immigration policy, including a temporary suspension of the right to asylum.

According to Prime Minister Donald Tusk, the move is part of a broader strategy called 'Take Back Control - Ensure Security'.

Tusk explained that Belarus, Russia, and countries from the Middle East are taking advantage of Poland's asylum laws.

The Polish Interior Minister, Tomasz Szmydka, emphasized in an interview that the situation is a form of hybrid aggression, with individuals being flown to Moscow and Minsk and then bused to the border area, where they are guided by Belarusian authorities.

He noted that the situation has escalated, with a recent increase in numbers and violence, including the killing of a Polish soldier at the border and several incidents involving stone-throwing, branch-throwing, and destruction of property.
