SpaceX Rescue Mission Launched to Retrieve Stranded Astronauts
SpaceX has launched a mission to retrieve astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore from the ISS. The mission addresses delays caused by issues with the Boeing Starliner spacecraft.
SpaceX, founded by billionaire Elon Musk, has launched a rescue mission to bring back American astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore, who have been stranded on the International Space Station for months.
The Falcon 9 rocket took off from a new launch pad at Cape Canaveral, Florida, marking its first use for a crewed mission.
On board the spacecraft are NASA astronaut Nick Hague and Russian cosmonaut Alexander Gorbunov.
The stranded astronauts' stay was prolonged due to issues with the Boeing-designed Starliner spacecraft, which initially took them to the ISS in June for what was supposed to be an eight-day mission.
NASA Administrator Bill Nelson congratulated both NASA and SpaceX on the successful launch.
