Typhoon Yagi made landfall twice on Friday, first on Hainan Island and later in Guangdong.
President Xi Jinping has directed local authorities to urgently assess casualties and damages, and initiate disaster relief and infrastructure repair.
The National Development and Reform Commission has allocated 200 million yuan (one dollar28.2 million) for such efforts.
