Washington Wizards Seek Breakthrough as they Visit In-Form New York Knicks
Wizards aim to halt four-game losing streak while Knicks defend home court after recent slump
The Washington Wizards arrive in New York on Monday night determined to snap a four-game losing run when they face the New York Knicks at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time.
With the Wizards sitting at 1-5 and 14th in the Eastern Conference, their challenge will be steep against a Knicks side at 3-3 and positioned seventh in the East.
Last season New York finished 51-31 overall, 34-18 in conference matchups and 27-14 at home, showing strong metrics with 19.4 points off turnovers, 14.3 second-chance points and 21.7 bench points per game.
Meanwhile Washington charted 18-64 overall and 13-39 in the East in 2024-25, allowing opponents 120.4 points per game and a field-goal rate of 47.1 %.
The contrast in recent form and historical performance sets a tough stage for the Wizards.
Injury-wise the Knicks enter the game without any listed absences, while Washington’s Khris Middleton is day-to-day with an elbow issue.
The Wizards will hope for contributions from the likes of Jordan Poole and rookie Alex Sarr, while the Knicks will lean on Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges and Karl-Anthony Towns to set the tone.
BetMGM lists the Knicks as 11.5-point favourites with an over/under of 234.5. Washington must improve their defence and execution if they are to upset the spread.
Otherwise, New York may seize the opportunity to rebound from recent stumbles and reinforce their home-court advantage.
