White House 2025 Christmas Display Blends Patriotism and Tradition Under Trump Decor Theme

"Home Is Where the Heart Is" decorations include patriotic motifs, Lego portraits and nod to military families — but no explicit focus on Abraham Lincoln
The White House unveiled its 2025 Christmas decorations under the theme “Home Is Where the Heart Is,” curated by First Lady Melania Trump in the family’s first holiday season back in the residence.

The holiday display arrives as the nation prepares to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence next year.

The decorations make extensive use of patriotic imagery.

The East Room is adorned with red, white and blue décor, golden-eagle tree toppers and star motifs recalling the founding anniversary.

The official Christmas tree in the Blue Room is decorated with gold stars honouring Gold Star families whose relatives died in active-duty service.

Each of the 50 U.S. states and U.S. territories is represented on the tree by its official bird and flower — a nod to national unity and remembrance.

The Green Room features two striking Lego portraits: one of the first U.S. president, George Washington, and another of the current president, Donald Trump.

These portraits of past and present leaders reflect a blending of tradition, national heritage and personal legacy.

Elsewhere in the White House, rooms take on distinct themes: the Red Room is decorated in support of the First Lady’s “Be Best” child-welfare initiative and her “Fostering the Future” programme, with over 10,000 blue butterflies and ornaments celebrating foster care; the State Dining Room houses an elaborate gingerbread White House built from over 120 pounds of gingerbread; and throughout the mansion there are 75 wreaths, 51 Christmas trees, more than 700 feet of garland, over 25,000 feet of ribbon and thousands of lights and ornaments.

Public tours have resumed on a modified route because the East Wing is being rebuilt to accommodate a new presidential ballroom.

Visitors will traverse the State Floor, including the East, Green, Blue and Red Rooms, the State Dining Room, Cross Hall and Grand Foyer.

Some ground-floor rooms remain closed due to construction.

Although a portrait of President Abraham Lincoln appears among the permanent decorations in the State Dining Room, the 2025 holiday décor makes no explicit reference to him or to non-Christian traditions.

The White House press release and the decorations emphasize American values of home, family, service and patriotic unity as the heart of the season.

The 2025 White House Christmas decorations reflect a return to traditional holiday symbolism, historically inspired national themes and the personal imprint of the current administration.

For many observers, the display offers a festive, patriotic welcome — marking Christmas in the Executive Mansion as a season of national pride and family warmth under renewed leadership.
