Cardi B Rebukes Elon Musk for Calling Her a 'Puppet'
Rapper Defends Her Background Amid Political Spat
In the lead-up to the 2024 U.S. presidential election, Grammy-winning rapper Cardi B publicly confronted tech mogul Elon Musk after he labeled her a 'puppet' supporting Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.
The incident occurred after Musk commented on a Twitter post about Cardi B's rally appearance in Milwaukee for Harris, mocking her for a teleprompter error during her speech.
Cardi B countered Musk's remark by highlighting her upbringing: 'I'm not a puppet, Elon.
I'm a daughter of two immigrant parents who worked hard to provide for me.
I'm a product of welfare, section 8, poverty, and the reality of a system set up against you.' Cardi B, who also spoke against Donald Trump's alleged sexism at the rally, argued that women, like her and Harris, must overcome significant obstacles to succeed.
Musk, originally from South Africa and linked to affluent family ties, including connections to an emerald mine, has frequently received criticism for his viewpoints on social issues.
The U.S. presidential election is scheduled for November 5, 2024.
