Cold Weather Alert Ahead of King's Birthday Holiday in Australia

Australia braces for cold temperatures, rain, and snow as the King's Birthday public holiday approaches.
As Australia approaches the King's Birthday public holiday, a significant cold outbreak is expected to impact various regions across the country.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, areas such as Victoria, southern New South Wales, and eastern and southern Tasmania will experience rainfall and snowfall.

Precipitation is anticipated to develop on the southern and central tablelands and could extend to the northern tablelands.

Ski resorts may receive an additional half a metre of snow over the next few days.

On Monday, southern Victoria is set to experience another wave of rain, with showers forecast for parts of South Australia and inland New South Wales.

Furthermore, hazardous surf conditions are expected to affect the coastline of New South Wales, particularly around the Illawarra and Hunter regions.

Offshore wave heights are projected to reach up to four to five metres as conditions worsen starting Sunday night and into Monday.

In terms of regional weather forecasts:

Brisbane is expected to record mild temperatures, with a minimum of 9 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 20 degrees Celsius.

The city is forecasted to experience partly cloudy skies accompanied by light winds and a low chance of rain.

Sydney will experience cooler conditions, with temperatures ranging from a minimum of 8 degrees to a maximum of 20 degrees.

The local forecast includes northwesterly winds and a 40% chance of rain.

Melbourne is likely to encounter a high probability of showers, with temperatures ranging from a minimum of 8 degrees to a maximum of 14 degrees, and prevailing southwesterly winds expected.

Canberra, the capital city, will experience significantly cold weather with a minimum of 0 degrees and a maximum of 11 degrees.

Expect cloudy skies and winds along with a high chance of morning and afternoon showers.

In Hobart, rain is almost guaranteed, with cloudy skies and temperatures from 8 to 13 degrees expected throughout the day.

Adelaide is forecasted to be cool, with a medium chance of morning and afternoon showers.

Temperatures are expected to range from 6 to 16 degrees, accompanied by winds during the afternoon and evening hours.

Conversely, Perth will enjoy sunny weather during the public holiday, with temperatures reaching a minimum of 7 degrees and a maximum of 22 degrees.

In the Northern Territory, Darwin is forecast to remain warm, sunny, and dry, with temperatures ranging from a minimum of 19 degrees to a maximum of 30 degrees.
