Frustrated Customer Parks Tank-Like Vehicle in Protest Over Allegedly Subpar $30,000 Kitchen Installation
A disgruntled customer protested outside a Wickes store by parking a decommissioned military vehicle in front of the Basingstoke location.
Paul Gibbons, 63, expressed frustration with the store due to the substandard kitchen installation services he received. Despite paying £25,000 ($30,000) for a kitchen makeover promised within two weeks, Gibbons reported unresolved issues 10 months later, citing poor craftsmanship and non-functional fixtures.
He staged the demonstration with an Abbot self-propelled gun to highlight his dissatisfaction, displaying a sign that criticized the retailer's competency. UK law permits driving such a vehicle with a proper license.
Wickes issued an apology for any disturbance caused and stated they are working to rectify the situation with Gibbons. Business Insider awaits an official comment from the company.
