Rhode Island Special Assistant Attorney General Arrested After Trespass Dispute Caught on Bodycam
Body camera footage shows Devon Hogan Flanagan invoking her role and warning ‘you’re going to regret this’ during arrest outside Newport restaurant.
On August 14, 2025, Devon Hogan Flanagan, a Special Assistant Attorney General in Rhode Island’s Criminal Division, was arrested in Newport on a charge of willful trespass after refusing to leave the Clarke Cooke House restaurant when asked by staff.
No indication has been given of disciplinary actions yet; the Attorney General’s Office has launched an internal review.
Police body camera footage released by authorities shows Flanagan repeatedly asking officers to turn off their cameras, asserting that such a request was citizen protocol.
She is heard saying, “I’m an AG,” multiple times and warning officers, “You’re going to regret this,” while being placed into a police cruiser.
Authorities clarified that state and local policies allow bodycam deactivation only in limited circumstances, not at a citizen’s request.
Flanagan’s friend, identified as Veronica Hannan, was also arrested and faces charges of willful trespass, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.
Footage shows Hannan resisting officers, removing her handcuffs, and physically resisting entry into a patrol vehicle.
Flanagan has served in the Attorney General’s Office for approximately seven years.
No updates on legal representation or court appearances for either woman have been publicly issued, and the Attorney General’s Office has declined further comment, characterizing the matter as personnel-related.
