Russian Military Intelligence Officer Injured in Moscow Car Bomb Attack

A Russian military intelligence officer was injured in a car bomb attack in northern Moscow on Wednesday. The Russian interior ministry confirmed the blast was caused by an unidentified device and launched a criminal case. The head of the Federal Security Service indicated the suspect fled to Turkey, where he was arrested in Bodrum.

The explosion, which occurred shortly after the officer and an unidentified woman entered a Toyota Land Cruiser, also injured another person.

The Russian interior ministry confirmed the blast was caused by an unidentified device and initiated a criminal case.

Alexander Bortnikov, head of the Federal Security Service (FSB), indicated that the suspect fled to Turkey.

Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced the arrest of a Russian suspect in Bodrum, who had arrived from Moscow by plane.

The injured officer is a member of the GRU, according to the Kommersant newspaper.

The state news agency TASS reported the officer suffered severe injuries, including the loss of his feet, and five other cars were damaged.
