Son of Norway's Crown Princess Arrested for Violating Restraining Order
Norwegian police announced that Marius Borg Hoiby, the 27-year-old son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit, has been arrested for violating a restraining order and is suspected of domestic abuse against three victims. Hoiby's lawyer denies these allegations, questioning the legal grounds of his arrest.
Norwegian police announced on Saturday that Marius Borg Hoiby, the 27-year-old son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit, was arrested for violating a restraining order.
Initially detained on August 4 after a disturbance at a woman's apartment in Oslo, Hoiby was accused of causing bodily harm and was found with a knife stuck in the wall of the woman's bedroom.
The police issued a restraining order for Hoiby due to his continuous, unwanted contact with the victim.
Subsequently, he was arrested again on Friday for violating this order and is now suspected of domestic abuse and threats against three other victims.
Hoiby's lawyer, Oyvind Bratlien, denies all allegations against him, questioning the legal basis for the arrest.
Born in 1997, Hoiby grew up with his step-siblings but holds no official public role.
