Two and a Half Weeks After the Major Outage: A Cloudflare Malfunction Brings Down Multiple Sites
Cloudflare faces another disruption affecting many websites shortly after its previous large-scale failure.
Just weeks after a major malfunction in the company’s servers triggered a widespread collapse of websites and online services, Cloudflare is once again confronting a technical failure that is causing significant disruptions.
On Friday, two and a half weeks after the earlier outage that disabled many websites and services for long hours, the company appeared to be experiencing another malfunction that is interrupting access to a broad range of websites.
Many users on social media, especially in the United States, reported difficulty loading various sites.
This time, unlike the previous incident, some of the platforms that were affected before — including ChatGPT and the social network X — remain operational at the time of writing.
This is likely due to steps taken in recent weeks to reduce their dependence on Cloudflare’s servers.
Cloudflare released an initial statement on its website, saying it is “aware of the issue and investigating the source of the problem.
Additional details will be shared as more information becomes available”.
The company provides core internet infrastructure services that help operate some of the world’s most prominent websites.
In simple terms, Cloudflare ensures that websites remain accessible even under heavy traffic by positioning itself between the site and its visitors.
The downside is that any malfunction within Cloudflare’s systems can immediately bring down a long list of unrelated websites that rely on its network.
