Amazon pours additional $2.75bn into AI startup Anthropic
Amazon is investing an additional $2.75 billion in AI startup Anthropic, bringing its total investment to $4 billion.
This investment in the OpenAI competitor aims to enhance customer experiences through generative AI, as stated by Amazon Web Services VP, Swami Sivasubramanian.
With this move, Amazon maintains a minority stake in Anthropic. The collaboration will focus on developing foundation models for generative AI systems, leveraging AWS's cloud services and custom chips for AI model development.
Anthropic will also offer its AI models to AWS business customers through the Bedrock service, used by companies like Delta Air Lines and Siemens. This investment reflects the growing interest and investment in AI technology by major tech companies, amidst scrutiny by US antitrust regulators.
