Today marked the enforcement of new European Union regulations requiring manufacturers to adopt a standardized USB-C charging port for all new smartphones, tablets, and cameras sold within the bloc's 27 member countries.

The European Commission has emphasized that this initiative aims to reduce electronic waste and minimize costs for consumers.

With this directive now in effect, manufacturers are obliged to supply USB-C chargers with all portable electronic devices marketed in the EU.
