International Criminal Court's Chief "Deeply Concerned" By Rafah Bombing
The Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Karim Khan, has expressed grave concern regarding the potential Israeli ground incursion into Rafah, Gaza, and the recent bombings there.
He issued a warning on a platform previously known as Twitter, stating that offenders of international law would face accountability.
Khan's office is urgently advancing an investigation into the Gaza conflict, which began following incidents in October 2023. He has consistently underscored that the laws of war must be upheld and noted no significant change in Israel's actions despite his previous comments from Ramallah.
The ICC, operational since 2002, is tasked with investigating severe crimes like genocide and war crimes, acting when national jurisdictions fail to do so.
Khan asserted his office's commitment to prosecuting legal breaches and called for Hamas to release all hostages, highlighting this as a key aspect of their ongoing inquiries.
