Polish Man Charged with Plotting to Provide Intel on Zelensky Assassination to Russia
A Polish man named Pawel K.
has been arrested for allegedly planning to provide intelligence to Russia that could have led to the assassination of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
The suspect has been charged with expressing willingness to work against Poland's national interests, which carries a potential prison sentence of up to eight years.
Polish officials claim the suspect was planning to provide intelligence that could aid Russian special services in attempting to assassinate Zelensky.
Pawel K., a Polish national, is accused of attempting to share information about Rzeszow–Jasionka Airport in southeastern Poland, which serves as a major logistics hub for weapons and munitions supplied by NATO members to Ukraine.
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) made this allegation and claimed that Ukrainian President Zelensky could be a target.
The SBU hailed the arrest as a significant success for both nations.
Zelensky has previously claimed that Russia has been trying to assassinate him for years, but former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin assured him in March 2022 that Moscow would not harm Zelensky.
