In a landmark decision, Members of Parliament in the United Kingdom have voted to decriminalize abortion for women in England and Wales.
The amendment to the Crime and Policing Bill removes the threat of prosecution for women who terminate pregnancies after 24 weeks or without the approval of two doctors.
While medical professionals assisting outside legal frameworks may still face charges, the reform marks the most significant change to abortion law in over half a century.
