Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will travel to Washington on Monday to meet with President Donald Trump.

The announcement follows a Trump–Putin summit in Alaska that concluded without a ceasefire agreement.

Zelenskyy and Trump previously spoke for more than ninety minutes, beginning as a one-on-one call before European and NATO leaders joined.

Zelenskyy thanked Trump for inviting him to the meeting and said they would discuss ‘‘all of the details regarding ending the killing and the war.” He cited ‘‘positive signals” from the United States regarding long-term security guarantees for Ukraine.

Zelenskyy reiterated support for a trilateral summit format involving Ukraine, the United States, and Russia, describing it as suitable for addressing key issues.

However, a senior Russian official stated that no such proposal was raised during the Alaska summit.

Trump and Putin described their Alaska meeting as productive though short on specifics.

Trump held follow-up calls with Zelenskyy and multiple European leaders, including those from Germany, France, the UK, Italy, Finland, Poland, the European Commission, and NATO.

Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of European involvement at every stage to ensure reliable security guarantees alongside the U.S.

Meanwhile, Ukraine continues to face Russian missile and drone attacks, underscoring the ongoing conflict’s volatility.
