176 Evacuated After Fire Breaks Out on South Korean Plane

A fire broke out on an Air Busan Airbus A321 aircraft at Gimhae International Airport in southeastern Busan, South Korea, on Tuesday night, prompting the evacuation of 176 individuals onboard.
The flight, bound for Hong Kong, was preparing for takeoff when the fire occurred around 10:15 pm local time (1315 GMT).
A total of 169 passengers and seven flight attendants were safely evacuated via inflatable slides.
The cause of the fire, which started in the rear section of the aircraft, remains unknown.
The National Fire Agency reported three people suffered slight injuries during the evacuation.
The fire was fully extinguished by 11:31 pm local time.
This incident comes just weeks after South Korea experienced its deadliest aviation disaster in recent history, a crash on December 29, 2024, involving a Jeju Air Boeing 737-800 that killed 179 people.
