Charity Chairwoman Alleges Prince Harry of Harassment and Bullying
Sophie Chandauka, chairwoman of Sentebale, accuses Prince Harry following his decision to resign as the charity's patron.
Sophie Chandauka, chairwoman of Sentebale, a charity co-founded by Prince Harry, has accused him of "widespread harassment and bullying."
This allegation follows Prince Harry's resignation, alongside co-founder Prince Seeiso of Lesotho and the board of trustees, from their roles as patrons of the charity.
Chandauka claimed that Prince Harry sanctioned the release of a damaging news story without notifying her or the other directors, which she believes exemplifies harassment and bullying.
The charity's trustees and patrons reportedly anticipated this publicity maneuver and remain resolute in their resignations.
On March 10, Prince Harry submitted a resignation letter to Chandauka and the trustees, alongside Prince Seeiso.
Chandauka has also noted tensions between the charity's staff based in the UK and those in Lesotho and Botswana, resulting from her initiatives to reform the charity and delegate decision-making power to leaders in southern Africa.
Prince Harry co-founded Sentebale in 2006 to assist young individuals affected by HIV and AIDS in Lesotho and Botswana, as a tribute to his mother, Princess Diana.
He and Prince Seeiso announced their resignations "until further notice" in a joint statement, expressing their decision with "heavy hearts."
Chandauka has characterized the situation as one involving poor governance, ineffective executive management, abuse of power, bullying, harassment, misogyny, and cover-ups.
