Millions of Noncitizens Are Granted Social Security Numbers During the Biden Administration
Recent data shows a substantial rise in the issuance of Social Security numbers to noncitizens, with more than 2 million granted in FY 2024 alone.
A recently displayed chart at a town hall meeting in Wisconsin revealed that millions of noncitizens have received Social Security numbers during the Biden administration.
Data spanning fiscal years 2021 to 2025 shows a consistent annual rise, with more than 2 million noncitizen Social Security numbers issued in FY 2024 alone. This figure contributes to a broader total, as approximately 1 million noncitizens received Social Security numbers in both FY 2023 and FY 2025. The chart was shared by Antonio Gracias, who has been involved with the federal Social Security system.
Gracias pointed out that the information was revealed during an audit meant to detect fraud in the system.
These findings have drawn considerable attention, especially given the large numbers.
In addition to the noncitizen statistics, audits have also identified around 7 million Social Security accounts belonging to individuals reported to be over 120 years old, and about 20 million accounts are linked to individuals who are deceased.
These revelations are part of a wider investigation into various federal programs and agencies, including the Social Security Administration.
The matter of noncitizen access to public services has been a significant topic, with previous executive orders instructing agencies to ensure that such services are intended exclusively for U.S. citizens.
Recent efforts have also aimed to enhance communication between agencies to hinder noncitizens from accessing public housing programs.
