President Trump Proposes Military Intervention to Obtain Greenland
The President of the United States is weighing all possibilities, including the use of military force, to strategically secure Greenland.
U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed his willingness to consider military action to obtain Greenland, highlighting the island's critical role in U.S. national security. In a recent interview, Trump remarked, "We'll get Greenland. Yeah, 100 percent. There's a solid chance it could happen without military intervention... but I don't rule anything out."
These remarks follow Vice President JD Vance's trip to Pituffik Space Base in Greenland, where he accused Denmark of neglecting the island's defense and hinted that U.S. involvement might be warranted.
Greenland, an autonomous territory of Denmark, has witnessed protests in its capital, Nuuk, against U.S. annexation attempts. Danish officials, including Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, have condemned the U.S. administration's stance, reiterating Denmark's dedication to Greenland's sovereignty and underscoring ongoing investments in Arctic defense capabilities.
Since 1951, the U.S. has had a military presence in Greenland, operating the Pituffik Space Base under a defense agreement with Denmark.
Trump's renewed enthusiasm for acquiring Greenland has escalated geopolitical tensions, attracting global attention to the strategic importance of the Arctic region.
