James Bond Franchise Transitions to Amazon MGM Studios
After 62 years of family control, the Bond series moves to new creative leadership under Amazon MGM Studios, with former producers retaining a partnership stake.
The James Bond film series, which has been managed by the Brook family since 1962, is set for a significant transition.
The franchise, known for its 25 official films and for featuring six actors in the iconic role, will now come under the creative control of Amazon MGM Studios following Amazon’s acquisition of the Bond parent studio in 2022.
In a joint announcement, Barbara Brook, aged sixty-four, and Michael G. Wilson, aged eighty-three, confirmed that while they will continue as partners with a stake in the franchise, Amazon MGM Studios will assume creative leadership.
Wilson noted his nearly sixty-year career in the series and his decision to step away from production to focus on artistic projects and charitable work.
Barbara Brook highlighted her commitment to preserving the legacy established by her father, producer Cubby Brook, and acknowledged the contributions of the talented actors and artists who have brought the character to life over the decades.
The move marks a new chapter for one of cinema’s most enduring franchises, with the new structure expected to shape the future direction of the series under the stewardship of Amazon MGM Studios.
