Zelensky Calls on World Leaders to Advocate for Peace in Light of Rising Tensions with Trump
The Ukrainian President addresses U.S. criticisms and underscores the importance of global solidarity.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has urged global leaders to choose between siding with Russian President Vladimir Putin or advocating for peace, following recent criticisms from U.S. President Donald Trump.
In his daily address on Wednesday, Zelensky revealed an upcoming meeting with U.S. envoy Keith Kellogg, expressing optimism for a productive dialogue with the United States.
This development follows President Trump's remarks, in which he referred to Zelensky as a 'dictator without elections' and accused him of misappropriating American aid, statements that have faced backlash from European leaders and members of the U.S. Congress.
European countries have responded by vowing to increase defense expenditures and reaffirm their dedication to Ukraine's sovereignty.
At the same time, U.S. envoy Kellogg has arrived in Kyiv for talks with President Zelensky, underscoring the significance of U.S. security assurances to prevent further Russian aggression.
The situation remains precarious as Ukraine nears the third anniversary of Russia's invasion, with ongoing discussions about the future of international support and diplomatic initiatives.
