Israel Advances Military Operations in Gaza, Seizing Territory and Increasing Civilian Displacement

According to the Israeli human rights organization Gisha, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have claimed approximately 62 square kilometers, approximately 17% of the Gaza Strip, since military operations intensified.
This effort has effectively separated areas within Gaza, particularly cutting off Gaza City from southern regions by establishing the Netzarim corridor, which employs historical references to former Israeli settlements.
The military operation's announcement corresponds with statements made earlier by Defence Minister Israel Katz, who emphasized that large-scale civilian evacuations would accompany the effort to capture vast areas within Gaza.
