Israel Faces Retaliation After Attacking Iranian Military and Nuclear Sites

Escalating tensions lead to missile strikes and a state of emergency in Israel following Iranian threats.
On June 13, 2025, Israel reported that approximately 40 individuals were hospitalized due to injuries sustained during missile strikes fired by Iran in retaliation for Israeli airstrikes targeting Iranian military and nuclear facilities.

Among the injured, two people are in critical condition.

Ichilov hospital in Tel Aviv is treating 18 patients, while Beilinson hospital in Petah Tikva and Sheba hospital in Ramat Gan are treating 7 and 15 patients, respectively, with several individuals suffering from shrapnel wounds, smoke inhalation, and shock.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that citizens could resume normal activities following the interception of Iranian missiles by the Iron Dome air defense system over Tel Aviv.

Earlier, residents across Israel were instructed to seek shelter as tensions escalated after Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei vowed to 'inflict heavy blows' on Israel in response to recent Israeli military actions targeting its nuclear sites.

The Israeli military stated that Iran launched fewer than 100 missiles, resulting in limited hits on selected buildings due to the interception process.

IDF spokesperson Avichay Adraee reported that the damage was not extensive, indicating that missiles had been intercepted successfully.

In a series of posts on social media, Khamenei asserted that the Israeli attacks would not go unanswered, framing the situation as a critical moment for Iran's national defense.

He emphasized that the Iranian response would be decisive and comprehensive, denoting further military implications following the strikes.

The Israeli Defense Minister, Israel Katz, remarked that Iran's missile attacks on civilian areas represented a crossing of 'red lines,' heightening the urgency of Israel's military posture.

Following the initial Israeli strikes, including accusations of targeting civilian infrastructure by Iranian forces, the country's military status was elevated, and a special state of emergency was declared.

The US military reportedly assisted in intercepting some of the Iranian missiles aimed at Israel.

This military engagement occurs amid rising worries over Iran's nuclear ambitions and its prolonged non-compliance with international protocols concerning uranium enrichment.

As the conflict heightened, international reactions began to surface.

Following the Israeli airstrikes, the United Nations called for restraint, urging both Israel and Iran to prevent further escalation of violence.

In conjunction with these developments, some airlines canceled flights to and from the region as a precaution against the spiraling conflict.

This latest round of hostilities follows Israël's Operation Rising Lion, a coordinated strike involving over 200 warplanes that targeted multiple Iranian military objectives and nuclear facilities, which Israel claims are critical to preventing Iran from developing a nuclear weapon.

Reports indicate that key Iranian military figures, including high-ranking commanders, were among those killed in the strikes, leading to heightened threats of retaliation from Iran.

Iranian state media confirmed that explosions occurred at several nuclear facilities, including the Natanz site, which is heavily fortified and key to Iran's uranium enrichment activities.

Following these developments, the situation remains tense, with both sides maintaining readiness for further military confrontation.
