Louisiana AG Announces Arrest in Orleans Parish Jail Escape Investigation
Former jail employee charged with aiding inmate's escape during May jailbreak
The Louisiana Attorney General's Office has announced the arrest of Darriana Burton, a former Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office employee, in connection with the May 16 escape of ten inmates from the Orleans Justice Center.
Burton, believed to be the girlfriend of escaped inmate Derrick Groves, faces a felony charge of conspiracy to commit simple escape.
Investigators allege that Burton communicated with Groves via a jail-issued iPad prior to the escape, facilitating coordination with external contacts.
The manhunt for the remaining fugitives continues as authorities intensify their search efforts.
